About Us

We are a third generation family-operated, full-service jewelry store. Our inventory is composed of fine jewelry with diamonds, colored stones, and pearls set in gold and platinum. Additionally, we have the ability to perform any type of repair, as well as custom designs.

The Founder

Walter H. Pickens, Sr., President, first entered the jewelry business in 1940. In 1942, he left to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1945, he returned home and resumed his work as an apprentice and trade shop foreman. Ten years later, he began working for Albert Wyatt Jewelers in downtown Atlanta, eventually buying the company in 1973. He continued to operate the shop, which had been in business since 1946, and in 1979, the company incorporated to become Pickens, Inc.

Walter H. Pickens, Jr., Vice President, is a graduate of the University of Georgia in Business Administration and a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America. In 1982, he combined his business and gemology knowledge with his father's forty years of trade shop expertise to open a retail storefront. Since then, we have been providing an inventory of fine jewelry and retail repair services to the Buckhead community.
