The Founder
Walter H. Pickens, Sr., President, first entered the jewelry business in 1940. In 1942, he left to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1945, he returned home and resumed his work as an apprentice and trade shop foreman. Ten years later, he began working for Albert Wyatt Jewelers in downtown Atlanta, eventually buying the company in 1973. He continued to operate the shop, which had been in business since 1946, and in 1979, the company incorporated to become Pickens, Inc.
