About Pickens, Inc.

We are a family-operated, full-service jewelry store. Our inventory is composed of fine jewelry with diamonds, colored stones, and pearls set in gold and platinum. Additionally, we have the ability to perform any type of repair, as well as custom designs.

Our experienced ownership and our skilled jewelers enable us to serve our customers with confidence and to provide quality products. We feature designs that will stand the test of time. Our jewelry is made to last and can be passed down generation to generation to become family heirlooms.

Walter H. Pickens, Sr., President and CEO, first entered the jewelry business in 1940. In 1942, he left to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1945, he returned home and resumed his work as an apprentice and trade shop foreman. Ten years later, he began working for Albert Wyat Jewelers in downtown Atlanta, eventually buying the business in 1973. He continued to operate the shop, which had been in business since 1946, and in 1979, the company incorporated to become Pickens, Inc.

Walter H. Pickens, Jr., Vice-President and CFO, is a graduate of the University of Georgia in Business Administration and a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America. In 1982, he combined his business and gemology expertise with Mr. Pickens, Sr.'s forty years of trade shop repair expertise to open a retail storefront. Since then, we have been providing an inventory of fine jewelry and retail repair services to the Buckhead community.

Services

Jewelry Sales
We offer a large selection of fine jewelry, including diamond jewelry, colored stone jewelry, engagement rings, wedding rings, pearls, platinum, gold and silver jewelry. We also have an extensive inventory of loose diamonds and colored stones.

Custom Designs
We can assist you in designing your ideal one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry using either your design or ours. We can also rework existing or duplicate existing pieces.

Jewelry Repair
We are a full-service jeweler with over sixty years experience in the jewelry industry. We have a full-service goldsmith shop on the premises, equipped with the most advanced technology available, including our state-of-the-art laser welder. Our seven full-time bench jewelers and two full-time polishers have years of experience and are highly skilled in all aspects of jewelry repair and custom creations. We can provide any jewelry repair, including ring sizing, soldering, clasp and safety catch repair, stone setting, prong repair, just to name a few. We can also remount, redesign, and refurbish old pieces of jewelry.

Pearl and Bead Stringing
We can restring your existing or broken pieces or assist you in selecting your own clasp and beads to make a one-of-a-kind piece. 

Machine and Hand Engraving
To personalize your special items, we provide both machine and hand engraving. We can also duplicate more intricate designs like seals and family crests for items, such as signet rings.

Watch Repair
We can perform all types of watch repairs to keep your watch in excellent running condition. Bring in your watch for a routine battery replacement, or if your watch needs more, we can replace the band, hands, stems, movements, crystals, or perform a professional service and cleaning on your watch.  We can also convert wind up watches to have a quartz movement, and refurbish old pocket watches.

Appraisals
Our graduate gemologist, Walter Pickens, Jr., appraises all pieces on the premises. Items can be appraised for insurance replacement value, estate evaluation, and fair market value.

We understand that your pieces of jewelry, whether family heirlooms or new pieces, are cherished items. While your items are with us at Pickens, they are completely safe and insured under our insurance policy. We pride ourselves on completing our jewelry repairs with the highest quality and expert care within a timely fashion and at reasonable rates.

From Lenox Square:
Go south on Peachtree Road. Turn left at the light onto Piedmont Road. Turn right onto East Paces Ferry Road at the light. After you pass the first light, we are the first driveway on the right, 480 East Paces Ferry Road.

From 75/85:
Merge onto 85 North. Merge onto GA-13N, Buford Highway, via exit number 86. Take the GA-237 N/Piedmont Road ramp. Turn right onto Piedmont Road. Turn left onto East Paces Ferry Road. After you pass the first light, we are the first driveway on the right, 480 East Paces Ferry Road.

From GA400:
Take the GA-141/Lenox Road exit, exit 2, toward Buckhead. Turn left onto Piedmont Road at the light. Turn right onto East Paces Ferry Road at the light. After you pass the first light, we are the first driveway on the right, 480 East Paces Ferry Road.

Traveling on 75 South:
Exit at the West Paces Ferry Road exit. Turn left onto W. Paces Ferry. Once you cross Peachtree Street, West Paces Ferry becomes East Paces Ferry Road. We will be on your left approximately one half mile past Peachtree Street, 480 East Paces Ferry Road.
